You may be surprised to learn that one of the keys to a settled nervous system is in an unexpected place-- your shoulder blades. Learn & practice with me here.
Thanks for reading, Ariadna! The concepts largely come from Postural Restoration Institute— they and the advanced integration institute do really incredible work that I wish more people knew about!
Laura, Thank you. No one ever explained or taught that the rib flare and the the seated yoga pose activates the sympathetic nervous system. It makes so much sense. I have been stuck in this for years. I have a better understanding of my rib flare, scapula connection and diaphragm dropping back into the breath.
Love it, Anne. I was thinking of you with this one as it is a nice complement to the other one you’ve been working on— so glad to hear it’s coming together mentally!
Wow! I am so glad you were able to get that diagnosis-- I think EDS gets missed so often and it can really be helpful to know as it changes (for me anyway) how I would work with someone. I really hope it's been affirming and helpful it might be to get some context around symptoms. If we ever catch up in person I am going to have a thousand questions!
I’m home sick with rebound Covid after Paxlovid. I really liked your shoulder blade article. I get a lot of tension in my neck which causes headaches which then sometimes causes dizziness and it seems like when I take care of my shoulders and shoulder blades, my traps are less tight, my neck is less tight and I get fewer headaches.
Not feeling up to doing the Seated exercise exercises, but I will!
Oh no, Kristy! I'm so sorry you've been sick- I know your body has been through a lot these past few years. I hope you can recover quickly. I so hear you on that tension, I know how uncomfortable and debilitating that can get. Thinking about what I know about your (mobile!) body, I would love to know how it feels to you to explore that arm reach protraction/retraction work, moving your ribs back and stabilizing there. Sending you so many good thoughts and a ton of gratitude for your being here with me! 🥰
Laura, Thank you. Never heard of this approach before.

This felt so good! Just what I needed today. Thank you Laura 😘
This makes my day— so glad to hear this! Miss you friend! 💕
I just found out that you can listen to articles on Substack, so I am listening to this now!
Speaking of hyper mobile-I was diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos syndrome last year.

Yes! I love heather Cox Richardson, but I don’t have the focus to read her article every day. I just listened to that also.
Yes! So great— I try to alternate been audio and text posts. I love that there’s an audio option even for the text ones!
