A lot of standard interventions assume a baseline capacity that not everyone actually has, then treat the failure to respond as evidence of not trying hard enough, when it's really evidence the tool was calibrated for a nervous system different from the one using it. That's in line with a lot of misapplied advice generally, correct for the population it was designed around, and quietly harmful to the population it gets handed to anyway.

well-said, as always, @Elanima ! 👏

Love the depathologizing here (as an EDS person, I’m just wired differently!) and especially the idea of a process “going too far”- lets balance it out. Theres no better or worse, and in fact some ultra grounded people lack imagination if I may say so!

Thank you so much for reading and commenting, Christabelle, and for sharing your own experience! I too find the idea of balancing so much more helpful and useful. 💜

Laura, I always receive so much from your writing. I resonate as an intuitive with a rich inner life that has no real value in our society. I have had to work hard at grounding and finding my feet, I also find shoes like you same way. I was totally moved by Frida Kahlos painting where she amputated her foot because she didn't need her feet if she had wings. Wow, talk about holding the tension of the opposites body, mind, soul/spirit!

YES! I completely agree, Anne— that simple little drawing from her notebook was so incredibly poignant and evoked so much for me too.

I really enjoyed reading this, Laura! Feels like one of those explorations I will keep coming back to in my head. Thank you!

Thank you, Rachael! I agree, there’s so much here to consider. I find it fascinating myself! So glad it resonated. 💚
